We’re advocating for menstrual equity and period dignity.

Citron Hygiene is proud to partner with Aunt Flow to improve access to menstrual hygiene in Canada’s indigenous communities. For every 10 Aunt Flow period products sold, 1 is donated to underserved communities with the help of the Native Women’s Association of Canada.

Citron Hygiene and NWAC: Partnering for Change

NWAC represents a diverse range of Indigenous communities across Canada.

The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is a National Indigenous Organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse individuals in Canada. It encompasses diverse Indigenous groups such as First Nations, Métis, and Inuit and works to advance the social, economic, cultural, and political prosperity of these communities.

Social Values & Environmental Impact

How the Aunt Flow menstrual product donation program works.

Our partnership with Aunt Flow ensures that pad and tampon sales translate into a meaningful social impact.

Citron Hygiene is the exclusive Canadian distributor for Aunt Flow, which manufactures and sells menstrual product dispensers and organic, sustainably produced, single-use plastic and chemical-free pads and tampons. Aunt Flow dispensers do not take payment, so schools and businesses that purchase Aunt Flow are choosing to offer period products to their washroom users free of charge.

These purchases are what fuel the donation program for underserved Indigenous communities on Canadian soil. Ten per cent of all Aunt Flow product sales in Canada will be donated for distribution to menstruators in need.*

*A percentage of all Aunt Flow sales made in the U.S. through Citron Hygiene will be donated to Aunt Flow’s U.S.-based donation program.

ABOUT THE DONATION PROGRAM

Menstrual equity is the affordability, accessibility and safety of menstrual products and menstrual health education for all people. Period dignity is a state where menstruators can have and manage their periods without shame or stigma. With menstrual equity comes period dignity—all menstruators should be able to easily access period products they need, safely and hygienically dispose of period products, have access to proper handwashing facilities, and participate fully in school, work, and social activities regardless of menstruation.

NWAC’s mission is to advocate for and inspire women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and the families of many Indigenous nations. We rely on NWAC to identify indigenous communities that need greater access to menstrual hygiene.

All Aunt Flow sales in Canada will be combined at the end of each year and 10% of the total sales volume will be donated. Although donations aren’t calculated for each individual purchase, you can be certain that your contribution will make a meaningful impact.

We are not currently accepting monetary donations but consider subscribing to NWAC’s Shining the Spotlight e-newsletter to get news about their various fundraising efforts. Click here to learn more about the newsletter and subscribe.
